Dear Airport Sponsors and Airport Managers,
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development – Aviation Division, is working with Applied Pavement Technology, Inc. (APTech) and KSA Engineers, to complete our update of the Airport Pavement Management System (APMS). This is a statewide project authorized by the DOTD-Aviation Division.
The APMS project will update the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) for all of the general aviation airports within the Louisiana airport system. This study will require APTECH and KSA to conduct visual inspections of pavements at your airport conducted using the approved PCI processes and procedures.
Please be aware that the consultants will be contacting you directly within the coming weeks to coordinate and schedule inspections at your facility. Inspections for all general aviation airports are projected to start at the end of February and last until mid-April.
An inspection schedule will be uploaded to our DOTD/Aviation website in the coming days so you can review the anticipated dates and view information on the specific personnel who will be requesting access to your airport.
The results of this effort will assist DOTD Aviation and airport stakeholders in understanding the current condition of the airfield pavements. They will also provide updates to tools, including our interactive website that provides users with all of the project results, to assist in the future management of this important infrastructure.
If you have any questions regarding this project, please feel free to contact our aviation operations program manager, Heidi Higginbotham, at Heidi.Higginbotham@la.gov or (225) 379-3047.
