The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development – Aviation Division is working with Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering (ICE) to complete our Wildlife Hazard Inspection Program. The Wildlife Inspection Program will update and recommend wildlife mitigation plans for selected general aviation airports within the Louisiana airport system. This study will require ICE to conduct visual inspections of wildlife activities using an approved DOTD process and procedure at your airport.
Please be aware that the consultants will be contacting you directly within the coming weeks to coordinate and schedule inspections at your facility. Periodic inspections for the selected general aviation airports are projected to start at the beginning of April and last for about 12 months.
An inspection schedule will be uploaded to our DOTD/Aviation website in the coming days so you can review the anticipated dates in which the inspectors may be at your airport. The results of this effort will assist DOTD Aviation and airport stakeholders in understanding the current condition of the wildlife activities, and will include recommendations on the appropriate way to mitigate any potential wildlife threats. Please visit our website for a listing of the approved ICE personnel who will be contacting you and requesting access to your airfield for the project.
If you have any questions regarding this project, please feel free to contact our aviation operations program manager, Heidi Higginbotham, at Heidi.Higginbotham@la.gov or (225) 379-3047.
