Airports not only provide an important transportation infrastructure that facilitates the spatial movement of people and cargo; they also serve as major economic engines. The provision and use of aviation services at airports, as well as capital outlays, support a variety of economic activities that generate business revenues, jobs, and income. The economic contributions of airports extend beyond their immediate vicinity, spreading throughout the entire state and beyond.
